MotorEasy GAP Insurance voted Auto Express Best Buy 2023

Price advantage and superior protection receives five-star rating

Auto Express has named MotorEasy as its Best Buy GAP Insurance provider, in its 2023 product group test. As the only provider to be awarded a class-leading five out of five-star rating, it was particularly cited for its price advantage and quality of cover.

The annual GAP Insurance Best Buy group test is designed to highlight the big savings drivers can make on GAP Insurance, when they shop around. The in-depth study compared a typical quote from a franchised dealer against eight leading providers, all offering an equivalent product. Mystery shopping each in turn, they were then ranked on their level of protection and ease of buying, as well as value-add extras.

Auto Express joins Defaqto in giving MotorEasy a five-star rating, amongst a GAP market featuring more choice than ever. A Best Buy awarded by Auto Express allows drivers to buy in confidence, safe in the knowledge that trusted experts have independently rated the product as "best in the market."

Duncan McClure Fisher, CEO of Intelligent Motoring, the parent company of MotorEasy, commented: “In the group test, MotorEasy came out top thanks to a quote almost 60% (58.4%) cheaper than the price from the dealership, and nearly £20 cheaper than its next nearest competitor. Amongst the list of other independent GAP providers some were up to £100 more expensive, while at the same time offering lower degrees of cover. We are delighted to receive this recognised endorsement, another spotlight shining on our portfolio of vehicle ownership solutions.”

Alongside MotorEasy's pricing advantages, the brand was also commended on its level of added extras, including up to £1000 in excess insurance protection. This compared to a general range of £250-£300 from other providers, if and when offered.

Aside from a wide discrepency in GAP pricing, the study also revealed that at least one provider refused to cover high risk vehicles like Land Rovers, given their greater frequency of theft.

Full details on the GAP Insurance Best Buy study is available in the 27th September 2023 edition of Auto Express.
