The What Car? Car of the Year Awards will be held in association withMotorEasy until 2025.
The motoring association has agreed a two-year extension to its partnership with What Car?, which already covered the 2022 Car of the Year Awards and the upcoming 2023 event, which will be held on 19 January.
As part of the agreement, MotorEasy will also sponsor the annualWhat Car? Reliability Survey and the Reliability Award.
The What Car? Car of the Year Awards has been held every year since 1978 and is one of the most eagerly anticipated events in the UK’s automotive calendar.
What Car? editor Steve Huntingford said: “We are delighted that we will be continuing to work with MotorEasy, because like What Car? it’s a brand that’s dedicated to making motoring as hassle free as possible.
“Our Car of the Year Awards are the culmination of 12 months of testing, and set the highest standard for the automotive industry."
Duncan McClure Fisher, CEO of Intelligent Motoring, the parent company of MotorEasy, added: “We’re thrilled to be extending MotorEasy’s headline sponsorship of the What Car? Car of the Year Awards, not only for 2023 but until 2025.
“It was fantastic to once again be among so many of our industry partners and market visionaries at the 2022 Awards, celebrating in person the highest standards achieved in the motor industry. In what has continued to be a difficult period for the motor industry, it’s important to recognise that innovation and advancements are still taking place.
“Unsurprisingly, we’ve seen a changing landscape at play across the motor industry. While we’ve moved out of the pandemic, we’ve entered a cost-of-living crisis which has created an even greater need for drivers to make savvy decisions with their vehicles and how they are maintained for the longer-term. To help this cause, MotorEasy is geared towards providing consumers comprehensive service, maintenance and repair solutions that build financial confidence in vehicle ownership. MotorEasy allows drivers to protect the purse strings while still having the trust that their car is safe and secure.
“As the UK marches towards the Government’s net zero ambitions, we’ve noticed shifting trends taking place in electric vehicle ownership too. More and more EVs are now filtering through to the three-year-old plus used market and in turn, we are seeing a rise in sales of car protection products and services for these vehicles, including GAP and extended warranty. With the help of MotorEasy, hundreds of EV drivers are protecting their finances as well as the environment.
In addition to naming the overall Car of the Year, the 2023 What Car? Awards will recognise the very best models in the following categories: Small Car, Family Car, Hot Hatch, Small SUV, Family SUV, Plug-in Hybrid, Small Electric Car, Large Electric Car, Executive Car, Estate Car, Seven-Seater, Luxury Car, Electric SUV, Coupé, Convertible, Sports Car, Sports SUV and Performance Car.
